The Fullers360 Auckland to Orapiu ferry is taking a break from its scheduled services. The Eastern end of Waiheke Island can still be accessed via a 40-minute drive from Matiatia Ferry Terminal.
Home to spectacular views across to the Coromandel Peninsula with world-class vineyards, a gin distillery, endless walking tracks and Stony Batter Historic Reserve. This untouched paradise is not to be missed.
Orapiu is located on the eastern side of Waiheke Island and is a 40-minute drive from Matiatia Ferry Terminal.
The eastern end of Waiheke Island is home to some of New Zealand’s best vineyards, including Passage Rock Winery, the most awarded winery on the island offering delicious seasonal food. Man O’ War Vineyards, located in the idyllic Man O’ War Bay, are well-known for their Syrah, Chardonnay and Waiheke’s signature Bordeaux blends.
Waiheke Distilling Co. is set on the ridge above Cowes Bay and is home to some of the island’s most breath-taking views. Spend the afternoon enjoying mouth-watering gins and enjoying the relaxed atmosphere.
Although many of the beaches on the eastern end of the island are privately owned, you can enjoy a swim and a walk along the beach at Man O’ War Bay.
For the adventurous at heart, the eastern side of Waiheke Island is home to some of the island’s most challenging walking tracks with incredible views.
Transport from Orapiu wharf and around the eastern end of Waiheke Island is very limited. There is no public transport or car hire vendors on this end of the island. Roads are also gravel in many places and not safe to walk along.
