Learn more about the Electric Hydrofoil ferry
Prepare for an experience that feels more like flying than boating. As you cruise at an impressive 25 knots, you’ll effortlessly glide above other boat wakes and waves, ensuring an ultra-smooth, comfortable journey. This is not just another boat ride—it's a revolutionary, emissions-free way to explore Auckland's stunning waters.
Equipped with a throttle and steering wheel, operating Kermadec feels similar to driving a regular outboard vessel. But that’s where the similarities end.
This eco-friendly vessel runs entirely on electricity. As you accelerate to a speed of 15-20 knots, Kermadec lifts gracefully out of the water, gliding effortlessly on its hydrofoils.
High-precision flaps on the foils automatically adjust to factors like weight, wind, and waves, ensuring a smooth and stable ride no matter the conditions.
With zero emissions technology, this is the most environmentally friendly way to see Auckland’s Waitematā Harbour.
Kermadec exclusively uses DNV-type approved safe and long-lasting battery technology made with ethical materials and has a long life cycle.
An added benefit of foiling is the noticeable lack of boat wake created. This means shorelines aren’t disturbed and the environmental impact of wake is almost completely removed comparative to other boats.
This world-first has been designed to meet both Maritime New Zealand and DNV standards.
