Good news for Waiheke Island locals, from this Saturday 1 July 50B bus services will be reinstated. This will provide a 15 min frequency of service for customers using the 50A and 50B services from Matiatia to Onetangi.
The reinstatement comes following several months of bus service reductions as long-term result of COVID-19 driver shortages. After a successful recruitment campaign conducted by Fullers360 and our Waiheke Bus Company team to recruit a mix of domestic and international drivers we now have a full roster of bus drivers to return to full services. This week alone, we have signed off 11 drivers – a record amount that we’re incredibly proud to share.
Ferry and bus timetables have been designed so arriving ferry services meet arriving buses. On occasion, when there are delays, bus drivers will wait for arriving ferry services where possible. If this is not possible, buses will arrive at Matiatia every 15 minutes to collect ferry users.
